Carpe Diem! Carpe Carhartt! – Seize Your Summer With Carhartt Family Wines

Summer’s almost here, and it’s calling for adventure. Whether it’s a detour down a dusty road, a backyard gathering, or something grander, the best moments come to us via our own intentional embrace. And those moments deserve the right companion. Our wines, which are crafted for life’s simple pleasures and spontaneous journeys, are made to live alongside the experience, not just on the table.

This summer, make room for the unplanned. Grab a bottle you’ve been saving—or one that’s just waiting to be opened. Because sometimes the best adventures are the ones that happen when you stop chasing something and simply let it unfold.

The team and I recently experienced this truth firsthand in the Figueroa Mountains—our very own version of a road less traveled. Not a grand excursion, but an adventure nonetheless—just an evening after work. A short drive from Los Olivos, but far enough to feel like we’d stepped out of time. With our happy crew we headed for the hills: Chase, Evan, myself, our wives, my fiancée, and a couple close friends. Good hearts all. We work together. We build things together. Most days we move pretty damn fast. But on this eve, we slowed down to grab a fleeting moment that we wanted to last.

We pulled off onto our favorite shoulder—a meeting place we know and love, with a stunning view of Grass Mountain, exploding with poppies in her full spring glory. Tailgates dropped, grill fired up. We unpacked coolers and tossed sausages on the flattop Weber, ranch-raised with love from our very own Rancho Santa Ynez pigs. We had two offerings: cheddar jalapeño and honey chipotle—bold and full of flavor. Each sausage eventually found its way into a sausage roll, complete with all the classic fixings, but the real magic was in the pairing.

Two bottles from this latest club release came out too—our 2022 Estate Sangiovese and 2022 Estate Mourvèdre—easy to pair, easy to pass, made for moments just like this. The Sangiovese was lively and bright, its red fruit and tangy backbone lifting the heat and richness of the cheddar jalapeño. The Mourvèdre, deep and savory, was a natural match for the honey chipotle, echoing the sweet smoke and spice with earth and depth of its own. Both wines were built to go wherever life takes you—equally at home alongside paper plates and flattop grills as they are at a white-tablecloth dinner.

It was a feast, even if it didn’t look like one. No centerpieces, no reservations—just good wine, good food, and the kind of company that makes it all feel effortless. We passed glasses and swapped stories as the light shifted across the valley, warm country tunes whirring from a speaker—never competing, just keeping time, like another old friend around the fire. The phrase “We don’t do this enough” lingered in the air, but what mattered was that we did it then—together—with every sip and every smile prolonging the magic. Maybe that’s the point: sometimes the best memories aren’t planned, they’re claimed.

Our wines are made for this—for sausage rolls and late light, for side-of-the-road views and dinner with your closest crew. They belong in your story, not on a shelf. Like any good symphony, it’s not about a single note—it’s about how everything plays together. Sometimes the sunset takes the spotlight, other times it’s the wine—but together, they strike a chord you don’t forget.

Do me a favor this summer, grab a corkscrew and carve out the time. Rally your people. Take the detour, pack the cooler, and bring the bottle you’ve been reserving for the right moment. Maybe the backcountry’s calling. Maybe it’s just your own backyard. What matters is that you go—and that you go with intention.

We’ll be here—at the tasting room, or standing by—ready with the wines that belong wherever life takes you. The wild is calling. The open road is waiting. It is not too far. It’s time to saddle up for an awaiting memory.

Let’s make some new ones this summer.
